This Christmas, we’re thinking of the 69 refugee children who’ve arrived in NZ this year – and we'd love for you to be part of helping make their 1st Kiwi Christmas a great one! Starting this Sunday, a sign-up sheet with children's names/ages will be in the pizza area, along with wrapped boxes ready to be filled with pressies. Grab a box, pop your name besides a child's name, buy a $30 gift and return it to church by 2 December and the @nzredcross will make the deliveries – sleigh + reindeer TBC... 🎄🎅🏼🎁

This Sunday, we're excited to welcome @daveaky to Saint Augustines: Dave is a creative and filmmaker (and a great friend of ours!) who's recently spent time in Syria, South Sudan and the Congo making films narrating the reality of families who have been exiled from their homelands and become refugees. Newt's going to interview Dave through the lens of the early church – famous for their generosity and care for strangers and refugees. We’ll delve in together to the question of "where is God in the midst of all this?"

Courage was a hallmark of the early believers. We've been exploring it over the past few weeks in the way they lived and prayed, often in the face of great physical danger. Fantails, Falcons and now...KEA!

Our young people are the heartbeat of Saint Augustine’s – how good is the mad dash every Sunday when all 50 or so of them head out to their programmes? In that vein, we couldn't be more excited to launch a new programme focused on our cheeky group of year 1-4's: Kea. Kea are the only alpine parrot in the world and known for their mischievous attitudes – a bit like the year 1-4’s! We're excited about this new adventure and stoked to offer our kids the best we have.

Sarah will continue to run the Fantails (pre-school), Jody will hang with the Kea (years 1-4) and Matt is taking the Falcons (years 5-8).

The life-breathing power of Jesus' teachings caught the hearts of people across the Roman world – they unrolled a truly new way of living. As they worked out this faith in their communities, praying with courage and boldness empowered believers to trek on and push deeper. This Sunday, @blake.ramage will lead us as we continue to explore the impact of prayer on the church's growth and depth – and how we can build it as a practice in our lives today.
